“Vae Victus”

I know I am not the only one who was excited to see Heavy Metal Magazine return and as I was reading I asked myself what I would do for a Sci-Fi/Fantasy publication. I have several words I am pondering that would fit nicely into a project such as this and chose my biblical post apocalyptic one as a basis for this cover. I currently do not like the name of the magazine, but the logo is cool and will use it for other purposes, as it is the name of one of my other projects and it works too well with it to associate with something else.

I returned to pen and ink for this drawing and it was fun to work with this process again. Some texture was done in Photoshop to make it a little gritty and since I know this magazine will be done digitally I wanted it in the computer.
