Neon Throne

This was a drawing that I had started as a sketch, but then left it as I was not happy with the original inking. But during a week of artistic mania the created a new workflow in Sketchbook Pro I found the ultimate construction of this work. I really enjoy the light in it and the expression of the character is fun. Probably my favorite element is the repeated tongues in the character and the plaques, it just is amusing to me and greatly adds to the tone of this work.

I have always loved drawing this type of art, yes it’s a little lewd but it’s fun to make work of this nature that is elevated to a different level. It is also an intersting thought process to balance the alluring and the reasonable for that is the real art of the pin up. When I do these the I always ask myself could everyone appreciate this, for that is the nature of being respectful and not overt that being a more challenging artistic process. In the time of third wave feminism and the conversations of how we interact with each other in these types of settings it is important to remember that people don’t want to stop this kind of art. It is the sexualization in no manner other than for its own purpose and the narrow objectification that is the problem. Everyone can appreciate a work of tantalizing beuty, but that is the trick to be tantalizing to make the view infer and build a story of interaction beyond just the feels engendered.

I am a man and I am an artist, so I will draw the things pertinent to such an existence, because I do enjoy then so, but it is good to keep in mind how what I create represents and affects those around me. This is art with values and empathy.
